Home and Family from a SAHWM's Perspective

A white Christmas to come!

December 13, 2012

This is a guest post written by Denia.

This may be my very first Christmas away from my home but the first in my daughter’s home, miles apart from mine. A bit complicated situation?

Well, in short, I will be away from home this Christmas for the first time but am pretty sure a “White Christmas” is coming. We will still have fun and continue to practice our family traditions here like exchanging gifts with manitos and manitas – just like the activities we used to do during Christmas back home. What with my grand children, loved ones and other relatives here! (Hope you’ll keep this secret. What about coffee pots for my manito? Surely, this will be a great idea!)

Advance happy holidays everyone. Have a white Christmas, too.

How to Lower Cholesterol Naturally

December 12, 2012

cholesterol-levelSome of us may not be so particular with our “cholesterol levels” until we become older. Although they say, “it is never too late”, we know that it is better to always live a healthy lifestyle.

There are two types of cholesterol in our body – first, the HDL or the Good Cholesterol and second, the LDL of the Bad Cholesterol. The HDL level in our body must be greater than 60mg/dL while the LDL level must be lower than 130mg/dL.

My research in the internet on how to lower bad cholesterol naturally shows the following ways: to avoid smoking, to maintain a healthy weight and to have a physical activity at least 30 to 60 minutes in a day.

Easier said than done? Let’s make this as a challenge and let’s do it!

What’s Your Plan for Thanksgiving?

November 20, 2012

Thanksgiving is still a couple of winks away but I’m already stressed right now. We’ll be having some friends and relatives over on that day and I’m already busy right now with all the preparations – from the menu to the party supplies to cleaning the house.

I’m just happy that at night, I still get to have some good night sleep with our memory foam mattresses. A good sleep gives me enough time to rest for the next day’s activities.

Anyway, what’s your plan for Thanksgiving?

So Excited With Black Friday!

November 19, 2012

I’m losing sleep over Black Friday. I saw that one of the techie gadgets that I wanted will be sold at 90% off to the first 100 buyers this Friday. Now, I’m not sure if I will camp out at the store just to be one of the first 100 customers or just stay at home and shop online.

Actually, there’s also this online Black Friday sale for items such as blu ray but I would love to snag the IPad at 90% off its current price. Would love that!!!

Camp out or stay home?

I Wanna Start a Home Based Business

November 9, 2012

I want to start a home based business. Last week, I bought a book regarding selling on Ebay and I was inspired by some of the stories there.

Right now, I’m looking for stores or companies that offer products like clothes, gadgets, groceries and other stuff like pedometers in bulk for savings so that I can sell them for retail in Ebay.

Can you suggest any company or store that sells their merchandise in bulk?

Looking Forward to Black Friday

October 26, 2012

I’m so excited of the forthcoming Black Friday! I’ve heard that my favorite jewelry store will be having a Black Friday sale and I am very much looking forward it. No, I’m not going to be one of the first few people to line up at the store’s entrance during that day because, you know what, they have an online store. Yey!

There’s this sterling silver jewelry that I am very much looking forward to buy. Hope I get a good deal!

Info on Earning Online at Facebook

October 11, 2012

I’ve been browsing some Facebook pages earlier today and I realized that there are a lot of Facebook pages dedicated to earning money online. Have you seen one of those?

Aside from the information shared by the owners of these Facebook pages themselves, I find the comments of other work at home entrepreneurs informative too. Just like anything written on the internet though, you really have to cautious when dealing with these because some turn out to be scams.

One of the most outrageous claims that I read was that you can earn $1000 every 20 minutes without doing anything. There was even one where you get some gold ingot after investing a minimal amount.

Some opportunities sound legitimate though and they are usually anchored on the principle that you need to work before you earn. Most are related to marketing and blogging though but I might give them a try.

What do you think? Would you join something you just saw on Facebook?
