Where Couples Shop

May 6, 2012

Most couples find it hard to find a shop or store where they can shop together. My husband and I don’t.

We love going to Lowe’s or Home Depot. While I shop for items at the home decoration section, he’s shopping for all those knots, bolts, threaded rod and other items for his DIY projects.

I could spend hours looking (and window shopping) for those things that will make our home look more welcoming – and he can do the same for his hobby and DIY adventures.

A win-win shopping experience indeed!

A Gift Idea for Father’s Day

April 18, 2012

Do you know when Father’s Day is this year? Father Day falls on the third Sunday of June and for 2012, it will fall on June 17.

It’s never to early to start thinking about what to give your father or the father of your kids on their special day. I’m planning to give my hubby one of those backpacks which he can use when he’s hiking or trekking with friends.

How about you? Any gift ideas for this Father’s Day?

Need Some New Chaise Lounge

April 15, 2012

In just a few months, it’s gonna be summer time again. I was doing my usual spring gardening when I noticed that the paint of our wooden chaise lounge was chipping off. I’m gonna need some new teak chaise lounge to place in the pool area so that it will be ready for cool dips during the summer (with sun bathing on the side).

So excited, huh? Well, I am!

Should I Take a Part-time Job?

April 1, 2012

Lately, a friend has been asking me to help her out in her business. She’s an events coordinator. She’s gonna need help now that she’s having lots of clients – and honestly, I’m considering to take this part-time job.

As an events coordinator, Leila oversees a lot of events. She’s into wedding planning and party set-up. She even knows a lot of people in the business too.

I’ll update you all when I finally get to decide whether to take this job. With a baby on the way, the schedule might become a problem a few months from now.

Missing My Family and Relatives

April 1, 2012

After I got married, my husband and I lived overseas. Now, we’re staying here in the US which is thousand miles away from my relatives and friends. It’s a good thing that there’s internet because I can contact my parents, siblings, relatives and friends via audio and web conferencing features of yahoo, skype and the like. It’s less cheaper (way cheaper) than paying for overseas call charges. Seeing them online via video chatting also helps me overcome my homesickness in a way.

My husband and my daughter are my family and home now but still, I’ll always be a part of the family where I grew up.

Birthday Gift for Me

March 31, 2012

It’s almost my birthday (yeah, that’s in a few days).

I’m so excited on that gift that hubby promised me sometime ago. Actually, I’ve been bugging him about it for some time now. My phone is really getting outdated and I hope that he’s gonna change it soon. I’m not really asking for a Superphone – any model would do but I hope it will make it easier to access the net, compared to the one that I’m using right now.

Sesame Steak Recipe

March 24, 2012

Recently, I stumbled upon a relatively easy recipe, sesame steak. It takes about 16 minutes to prepare this dish, plus about 30 minutes cooking time. Do consider the extra time for marinading the steak too (about 30 minutes or longer for extra flavor).

Here are the ingredients (which is for about 6 servings):

  • 1 tbsp. sesame seed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 lbs. boneless sirloin steak

The following are the procedures:

  1. Toast seeds in a dry skillet on medium heat. Stir frequently until seeds are golden brown and fragrant. To avoid overtoasting, immediately pour them out of hot pan.
  2. Mix all ingredients, except steak, in a small bowl. Place steak in a large resealable plastic bag or glass dish. Add marinade; turn to coat well.
  3. Refrigerate 30 minutes or longer for extra flavor. Remove steak from marinade and discard any remaining marinade.
  4. Broil on high or grill over medium-high heat for 6 to 8 minutes per side or until desired doneness.
  5. Enjoy.

Hope you like it!
