Home and Family from a SAHWM's Perspective

Party Spoilers

August 7, 2012

Yesterday we attended a party hosted by my husband’s former colleague. The party was great and the hosts were so kind and accommodating. The food was delicious and we really had a time of our lives.

There’s just one party spoiler, though. A man was smoking of Padron cigars, unmindful of the children and pregnant women around him. I hope some people realize that they should also be considerate of other people before smoking.

Do you agree?

Does Your Family Go To Church on Sundays?

August 3, 2012

When I was still single, I went to church on Sundays regularly. When I got married, my husband and I were stationed in another country where French was the official language and we stopped attending church because I don’t understand a thing in french. Besides, it was a Muslim country so there were just a few Christian churches.

Fast forward and we’re now back here in the US. It still took a long time before my hubby warmed up to the idea of going to church regularly but I was glad when he finally did.

I guess, it’s a combination of everything at church: from the pastor, the Church furniture, the warm hospitality of the people working in the church, the location. The fact that they have bible study classes for children and toddlers where our little princess could spend time with children her age was also a major factor.

Now, going to church on Sundays has become some sort of a “family tradition.” Even my little one looks forward to Sundays too.

Does your family also go to church together on Sundays?

A Weekend Getaway

August 1, 2012

This Saturday, my family and my sister-in-law’s family will be going to the lake to beat the scorching heat of the summer. We’ll be having a picnic, swim whole day and basically just spend time enjoying each other’s company.

The boys are planning to do some biking as well so we bought one of those softride bike rack where they can attach their bikes during the drive to the lake.

I’m so excited and very much looking forward to our weekend getaway!

How about you? Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Sunday Bonding With The Family

July 31, 2012

father-mother-child-happySunday, for us, is a family day. It’s a time to spend some bonding moments with our family outside the home.

We usually get up at around 8 in the morning, have breakfast then prepare for the 10:10am church service. The church service usually ends at about 11:15 or so – just in time for us to look for a place to have lunch.

We’d usually go to a Japanese restaurant to have some sushi although we also have lunch at some fast food chains like In-n-Out and Burger King. Recently, my husband craved for some seafoods so we had lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack. Other times, we’d have some steak at Tony Roma’s and Lumberjack. My baby’s favorite though is the Chuck E. Cheese, although I figured that it’s not for the pizza nor the chicken wings but for the games that she could play while in there.

During those eating out, I make sure that we always have some alcohol free hand sanitizer handy. We never know what things (and germs) we touch when we are outside and it is always a good practice to wash our hands before eating or at least use some hand sanitizer.

If my daughter is still not sleepy (she usually takes naps in the afternoon), we could do some (window)shopping before heading home. But oftentimes, we’re home by 3pm because she’ll get fussy already.

And that’s usually the story of our Sunday bonding time as a family. Care to share yours?

Need to Go Out More Often

July 11, 2012

As a stay at home wife and mother, I have to admit that I don’t usually go out and do some sightseeing (especially with the grueling summer heat in Las Vegas nowadays). Imagine my surprise when I saw a new business just a few blocks away from us. They’ve been offering skid steer for sale for a few months already (according to hubby), and it was only now that I got to notice it.

Funny, ayt?

That only means that I need to go out of the house more often. If not for that summer heat…

Is It a Girl or a Boy?

July 10, 2012

gender neutral baby nurseryWill we be having a girl or a boy?

My doctor said that he’s a boy but the ultrasound technician said that she’s a girl. Now, I probably would need to undergo a third ultrasound to somehow, become a little bit more sure but since most of my friends are already sending some baby stuff over, I just tell them to pick some gender neutral colors to be sure. True enough, I received a neutral colored Cotton Tale Designs baby bedding from a friend overseas from the mail today.

Have you heard of anyone saying their baby’s gender prediction from the ultrasound was wrong?
