How I Spend My Free Time

September 3, 2015

How do you spend your free time?

I am a homebody even before I got married so when I became a full-time stay at home wife and mother, keeping myself busy at home was not a problem. Aside from the motherly and wifely tasks, I keep myself busy by reading, doing cross stitch, watching movies and television shows, gardening and sketching.

Recently, most of my free time are spent online. I update my blogs, blog hop, join online contests or just plain read some articles and news. I also started learning how to design blogs and it’s already one of my part-time “jobs.” I also hunt for bargains online like alicia keys piano and other stuff.

Oh, I almost forgot, much of my online time is spent at Facebook too. It’s where I get updated of what’s happening with my friends and get in touch with those I haven’t seen for quite some time.

How about you? How do you spend your free time? Care to share in the comments section?

Planning a Home Renovation? Take This Quiz First

August 12, 2015

Are you planning to do a home renovation? I came across an article at US News about the six home renovations that would cost you. Let me give you a quiz if you are aware of any of this mistakes.

Question 1: True or false? To save time, hire the first contractor you can find.
Answer: False. You should get quotes from several contractors. Aside from the prices, make sure to conduct criminal, legal, and financial background check.

I came across a site that offers cabinet hardware, cabinet organizers and woodworking supplies. Whether you are a homeowner, hobbyist, or profession, you can find something that you might like at www.ovisonline.com

Ideas for My Music Room

August 10, 2015

Does listening to music relax you? During those times when I am stressed, listening to music helps ease all those tensions away. When you search at Google or YouTube, you can find playlists of relaxing or peaceful music, some of them are one to three hours long.

Anyway, speaking of music, have you heard about this gadget called the distressor? It is often used recording studios, live sound situations, movie sound production, and radio broadcast production but it is an automatic gain or volume control device (AGC in engineering terms) designed for pro audio applications. It usually costs more than one thousand, and I found at Guitar Center about one that is currently on sale for just 1,349.00 (original list price was 1,500.00)

Of course, that gadget is too expensive for our home but I think it will be a great addition to our music room in case our plan to have one comes through.

Hassle-Free Online Shoe Shopping for Your Family

July 8, 2015

Shoes that are considered collectibles or high fashion are very difficult to find in stores. Before they are due to hit the shelves, people already line up and wait for the store for days. Once the store opens, people make mad rushes into the store, often fighting with each other over the inventory. When you want to avoid all of the commotion and instead shop for popular items like Air Jordans for sale, you can do so online without having to leave your home.

When you shop for these kinds of shoes online, you avoid having to wait in line and perhaps leaving without a pair. The website lets you know when the release date for shoes is so that you can make sure that you are online once that day arrives. You also can shop for boys, men’s, and kids all on one website without having to rush around to different parts of a store. You can be done with your shopping in minutes and then be ready to check out while shoppers in stores are still waiting in line or arguing over who gets the shoes on the shelf.

Another important consideration when doing online shopping collectible shoes is pricing. You may want to know upfront how much money you are going to spend on the shoes. Most website has the prices listed on the front page so that you do not have to search or go through the checkout to learn how much you are going to be charged. This option lets you adjust your cart as necessary and allows you to budget well before you actually finalize the charges on your credit or debit card.

When it comes to saving money, you may be interested in shopping the clearance section of the website. The clearance section has lower priced shoes while still offering your family the high fashion that they want. You can also join the website’s mailing list if you want sneak peeks of sales or want news on inventory.

Kitchen Skills by Age

July 3, 2015

Involving children in household chores is a great way to teach them about responsibility. It is important to ensure that tasks are age appropriate and reasonable so that your children will not be overwhelmed and start resenting household tasks.

I found the following image from the Facebook page of quirkymomma.com (and which I also shared at SAHWM’s Facebook page) which shows age-appropriate tasks that children can do to help out in the kitchen.

Do you agree that the tasks above are age appropriate? The tasks are definitely not at the level of the other woman house cleaning but they will surely teach kids to handle responsibilities.

Reasons Why You Might Need to Use Matting at Home

June 3, 2015

floor matThere are many reasons why you may need to use matting in your home of office. It might be because of a safety concern, to prevent visitors or customers from slipping and falling. You also might want to have a mat available for people to wipe their feet when they come in from the outside. Whatever the case may be, there are a wide variety of matting options to choose from on the market. They are also made from many different materials, so you will need to check out all of the options to see which one is right for you. Here is how to go about buying quality matting for your home or business.

Talk to people in your family

There is a strong possibility that many people in your family have some sort of animal matting in their home. If this is the case, find out what type of matting it is. You should also ask them how long they have owned it, and where they bought it. If you are looking for matting for a business, your best bet is to go to various businesses in your area that are similar to the one that you own. Talk to the owner or manager of these businesses and learn about the prices that they paid to have their matting installed. There is matting that is specifically designed to prevent slip and fall accidents in the workplace, so this is something you should look into.

The Internet is always useful

There are many matting manufacturers and retailers that you can research online. Find out about the materials that are used in the creation of these different types of matting. You can also look at pictures of the styles of matting to see which ones will match your home or office. If you decide to order your matting online, you should look into the return policy of the website where you are buying. It would be a big hassle when you received your matting and it was not what you had expected. You might need to return it for a full refund.

Facebook Feed Watching

May 22, 2015

I like watching my Facebook feeds. They make me smile, keep me updated and basically, just be in the loop.

There are times when I also see some inspiring and thought-provoking quotes that are shared by my friends like the following quotes on relationship and love:

“You really don’t need someone to complete you. You only need someone to accept you completely.”

“Some relationships are like Tom & Jerry. They tease each other, knock each other down, irritate each other, hate each other but can’t live without each other.”

And of course, there are other posts aside from quotes. I get lots of info about sales, discounted products, case for trumpets, promos and other stuff. Sometimes I get the latest news on Facebook as well. Who needs newspapers nowadays?

Indeed, Facebook feed watching is an entertaining way to spend your idle time.
