In a society that is surrounded by babies, toddlers, and commercials about the products they need, it is hard for women who have trouble conceiving simply to exist normally. When you and your partner want a baby more than anything else, it is hard to sit back month after month and see “No” show up on the test lines. You may eventually want to explore a number of medical avenues, but you may want to attempt some more natural options first.
First, get back to basics. Realize that a woman’s body is naturally meant to work on a cycle. That means you will ovulate at a certain time each month and, if the egg is not fertilized, will have a menstrual cycle to start the process over again. The key is finding out when that moment is for you, and that can be difficult. One simple way to determine when you ovulate is by using an ovulation test kit. These kits are available over the counter at most drug and department stores. They are simple to use and can help you accurately pinpoint your best time to get pregnant each month.
Outside of these test strips, you may also rely on your temperature to help determine when you are ovulating and even whether or not you may be pregnant before a test will give an accurate detection. This method requires a basal body temperature thermometer, which will read your temperature to the nearest one hundredth of a point. In order to utilize this method, you must dedicate yourself to waking at the same time ever day. As soon as you wake, before moving around, pull out the thermometer and take your temperature. Chart the temperature on a graph (there are handy apps and online programs available) and take note of when your temperature spikes and drops. When the temperature spikes by .02 to .06 degrees and stays elevated, that is when you ovulate. If you become pregnant, your temperature will stay higher than average. If not, it will drop to indicate that your cycle is on its way.
It takes some dedication to become pregnant deliberately and without medical intervention, but it is possible. If after several months the methods listed above, and other natural methods that are available, do not work, it could be time to seek medical intervention in order to make your dream of becoming a mother a reality.
