Does Your Family Go To Church on Sundays?

When I was still single, I went to church on Sundays regularly. When I got married, my husband and I were stationed in another country where French was the official language and we stopped attending church because I don’t understand a thing in french. Besides, it was a Muslim country so there were just a few Christian churches.

Fast forward and we’re now back here in the US. It still took a long time before my hubby warmed up to the idea of going to church regularly but I was glad when he finally did.

I guess, it’s a combination of everything at church: from the pastor, the Church furniture, the warm hospitality of the people working in the church, the location. The fact that they have bible study classes for children and toddlers where our little princess could spend time with children her age was also a major factor.

Now, going to church on Sundays has become some sort of a “family tradition.” Even my little one looks forward to Sundays too.

Does your family also go to church together on Sundays?

Sunday Bonding With The Family

Sunday, for us, is a family day. It’s a time to spend some bonding moments with our family outside the home.

We usually get up at around 8 in the morning, have breakfast then prepare for the 10:10am church service. The church service usually ends at about 11:15 or so – just in time for us to look for a place to have lunch.

We’d usually go to a Japanese restaurant to have some sushi although we also have lunch at some fast food chains like In-n-Out and Burger King. Recently, my husband craved for some seafoods so we had lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack. Other times, we’d have some steak at Tony Roma’s and Lumberjack. My baby’s favorite though is the Chuck E. Cheese, although I figured that it’s not for the pizza nor the chicken wings but for the games that she could play while in there.

During those eating out, I make sure that we always have some alcohol free hand sanitizer handy. We never know what things (and germs) we touch when we are outside and it is always a good practice to wash our hands before eating or at least use some hand sanitizer.

If my daughter is still not sleepy (she usually takes naps in the afternoon), we could do some (window)shopping before heading home. But oftentimes, we’re home by 3pm because she’ll get fussy already.

And that’s usually the story of our Sunday bonding time as a family. Care to share yours?

Missing My Family and Relatives

After I got married, my husband and I lived overseas. Now, we’re staying here in the US which is thousand miles away from my relatives and friends. It’s a good thing that there’s internet because I can contact my parents, siblings, relatives and friends via audio and web conferencing features of yahoo, skype and the like. It’s less cheaper (way cheaper) than paying for overseas call charges. Seeing them online via video chatting also helps me overcome my homesickness in a way.

My husband and my daughter are my family and home now but still, I’ll always be a part of the family where I grew up.
